
The Hansen House has 3 daily shifts, with hourly pay starting out as indicated below and PTO available after 6 months employment.
1st Shift- 6AM – 2PM at $17.00/Hr
2nd Shift- 2PM – 10PM at $17.00/Hr
3rd Shift- 10PM – 6AM at $17.00/Hr with $1.00 Shift differential pay
Job Description: Caregiver
Caregivers will provide daily care for individuals on hospice services. Our residents will need total care and will spend their last days in our home. We will provide special training on end of life care during orientation. Care giving will include assistance with activities of daily living, house cleaning, laundry, some meal preparation and companionship.
Caregivers are responsible for ensuring that service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with facility policies and health care standards.
Responsibilities/Activities:
Assist with the activities of daily living and personal care including:
- bathing
- skin care
- safe ambulation and transfers
- oral care
- dressing
- perform preferred activities
- medication administration
- hair care
- shaving
- toileting and incontinence care
- positioning
- nail care
- feeding
Ensure resident’s safety and security by supervising the home environment.
Perform meal preparation, routine housekeeping activities such as making/changing beds, dusting, vacuuming, washing floors, cleaning kitchen and bathrooms, and doing laundry.
Provide companionship including social interactions, conversations, emotional reassurance and preferred activities.
Assist residents with meals as appropriate in their stage of life and as identified on the service plan.
Assist residents with communication by writing correspondence or calling family and friends .
Participate on the Service Plan team by providing input and making suggestions.
Ensure service is delivered in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures and practices.
Monitor supplies and resources.
Evaluate the program and make recommendations to it, as indicated.
Follow the written Service Plan.
Carry out duties as assigned by the manager.
Observe residents and their environments and report unsafe conditions to the manager.
Observe residents and their environments and reports behavior, physical and/or cognitive changes and/or changes in living arrangements to the manager and hospice.
Complete and maintain records of daily activities, observations, and medication administration according to house policies.
Attend orientation, in-service training sessions and staff meetings.
Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
Use critical thinking to make decisions and solve problems.
Communicate with the manager and co-workers.
Observe, receive and obtain information from relevant sources.
Performs other duties as required.
Required Knowledge:
- Knowledge of personal care and home management skills.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal care services, including needs determinants, meeting quality standards and evaluation of resident satisfaction.
- Knowledge of the English language.
- Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries including emergency First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of clerical procedures such as maintaining records and completing forms.
Qualifications/Education:
- Current Caregiver’s Certificate.
- Current Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Current Two-Step TB Test.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Current Food Handler’s Permit.
- 2 Professional References and 2 Personal References.
- Current Memory Care Training.
Job Description: House Manager
- House manager assumes management responsibility for the fiscal and operational activities of the assisted living home and is responsible for organizing, directing and the staffing of the home.
- House manager plans and develops programs, recruits and interviews staff (with Executive Director) and establishes procedures for measuring quality care and organizational performance.
Salaried Position: $45,000/year with PTO
- Flexible schedule. Evening, weekend and on-call work required. Minimum 30 hours mandatory in house.
Reporting Relationship
- Reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities and Activities
Authorized to manage assisted living home affairs and general operations, such as to:
- Manage and process biweekly payroll; manage work shift schedules to cover for call offs and requests for time off.
- Maintain a current organizational chart to show lines of authority.
- Hold quarterly staff meetings to ensure efficient operations and communication to all shift caregivers.
- Ensure qualified employees are hired (with Executive Director), in accordance with job descriptions.
- Oversee the hiring and in-service training programs with competent supervision to improve employee efficiency and resident care.
- Conduct informal and formal performance appraisals of staff upon completion of probation (6 months), annually and on an as needed basis.
- Familiarize all employees, including those on contract, with home rules, policies and procedures.
- Delegate and organize house duties and define employee accountability requirements.
- Assess and admit qualifying residents along with completion of all State required documentation.
- Maintain written service agreements, including financial arrangements (Hardship Applications for the Board), for services to meet resident needs. All payments and donations given to Executive Director.
- Ensure The Hansen House complies with all relevant federal, state and local laws.
- Schedule and carry out State required Disaster, Evacuation and Elopement Drills including maintenance of appropriate documentation.
- Be familiar with, and maintain house rules, policies and procedures.
- Supervise the development of policies and procedures that support The Hansen House purpose and goals while adhering to industry standards and established regulations.
- Identify critical issues that may affect the house.
- Maintain pesticide schedule, house maintenance, schedule extra supply pick-up, shop for food items and supplies and maintain menus & activity calendars.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director to compile an annual operating budget for the Board of Directors and monitor financial operations on an ongoing basis.
- Complete, maintain and submit financial reports and records to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on a quarterly basis and as needed.
- Designate, in writing, a qualified employee to act in their absence.
- Assist with Fundraisers to further The Hansen House mission.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director.
Required Knowledge:
- Computer skills and knowledge of Excel, Microsoft and QuickBooks programs highly encouraged.
- Knowledge of State regulations, health care policies, medical ethics, quality assurance programs, written and verbal communication techniques, and knowledge of effective teamwork strategies.
- Knowledge of personnel management, leadership techniques, management planning, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of time management, stress management and prioritizing techniques.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to budget; perform short and long-range planning; effectively communicate orally and in writing; gain respect and cooperation to inspire and motivate subordinates.

- Good physical health, mental health, fortitude and stability to handle stress.
Qualifications/Education:
- Current AZ Manager Certification
- Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Current Two-Step TB Test.
- CPR and First Aid.
- Memory care 8-hour initial training with required 4-hour manager training.
- End of life care and manager experience highly encouraged.
